The Power of "Yet"

Hey Reader,

Fear is sneaky. It doesn't always show up as a full panic. Sometimes it's a slight hesitation, or you react to a big idea with "not right now". It's not just you. Looking back at my notes on CEO Summit, Jenny Wood quoted a stat from Harvard.

65% of Adults fail to take action on their big ideas or their business goals because they hold a fear of judgement by others.

You likely feel this in that one critical activity for your business that you don't like to do. Maybe it's your calls to past clients, maybe it's your social media posts, maybe it's asking for help.

Whatever causes that self doubt, we can't stop it from popping up. And, we can change how we deal with it.

Those internal assumptions probably start with something like

I don't...

I'm not...

like I don't know what to say. I'm not a techy person. I don't know how to build a team...

So first, recognize the pattern of that coming up. Then, find a simple reframe.
Something as simple as one word: Yet.

I don't know what to say...yet...

I'm not a techy person...yet...

These types of identity self doubts only persist as long as you let them. With the addition of yet, you regain control. You are now in a growth and progress mindset, not a blocked state.

You can always control your mindset when faced with an obstacle. Your brain will look to fill in the answer to the yet... question. and it will answer fast. Chances are, you can't control any of the other variables.

Your advantage in this market could be as simple as having the same doubt, and reframing it as something to practice, and taking the next step anyway. 65% of the world is frozen by that fear of judgment. Use this technique to build the bridge from where you are to where you want to be. one step at a time.

What is the one thing you haven't mastered yet? What are you doing to move one step closer to it? Hit reply, and let me know.

love, mike
